In addition to pharmacies, you'll also find plan B in many health clinics (CLSCs in Quebec). Select your province and city below to find one near you that carries plan B. We suggest you give them a call first to make sure they have plan B in stock before making the trip.

       


plan B is available without a doctor’s prescription at most pharmacies across Canada.

plan B costs about $40 (drug cost and counseling fees included) and is covered under most (but not all) public and private insurance plans in Canada.

plan B is kept behind the counter so ask your pharmacist for it.

Once you get there

The pharmacist or nurse may ask you a few questions. The Pharmacy Prep Kit (.pdf, xxxKB) gives you an idea of the type of questions they might ask.

These professionals know all about plan B and will treat your request sympathetically and confidentially. Don’t be afraid to ask to talk in a private area.

You need to go in person

Someone else can’t buy it for you. The pharmacist or nurse needs to talk to you before giving you plan B. This is for your benefit, and your conversation (approximately 10 minutes) will be confidential. If you can't go, call and discuss plan B with them over the phone.
